Very satisfied with the fresh seafood set meal at Fish Meal!
Hello, I’m “Kotaka”, your concierge in Otakanomori! I am “Kotaka,” your concierge in Otakanomori! How are you doing?
Today, I’d like to introduce you to my favorite restaurant, Sakanameshi!
As a regular “kotaka”, I would like to keep this a secret, as it is already a popular restaurant, but as someone who declares himself a “concierge of Nagareyama Otakanomori”, I made the hard decision that I should not miss this place!
High-profile restaurant featured on TV
In fact, this “Sakanameshi” was introduced last year for five minutes in the “every. special” corner of Nippon Television’s “NEWS every” as a “delicious restaurant directly shipped from the place of production” and is a restaurant that is currently the focus of attention in Nagareyama. Since its introduction on TV, the number of customers has increased even more, and the restaurant is always crowded with many customers standing in line.
Store location and business information
The store is located about a 15-minute walk from Nagareyama Otakanomori. Located at 3-33-1 Risebrow 1F, Otakanomori Higashi, Nagareyama, Chiba, Japan
How to get from the station to “Sakanameshi”.
If the weather permits, the route to “Sakanameshi” is a great place to take a stroll while enjoying the beautiful Otakamori townscape, with some fashionable cafes along the way. If you use the bus, take the bus bound for “Nishi-Kashiwa 06 Edogawadai Station East Exit” departing from “Bus Stop No. 3” of “Otakamori Station East Exit” and get off at the first stop, “Oyama Elementary School Mae. The ride takes about 3 minutes and it is about a 3-minute walk from the bus stop.

Appearance and atmosphere of the restaurant
The exterior of the restaurant is modern, yet has the atmosphere of a banya (fishermen’s rest house). The store’s logo is also very nice. Now, it is “Kotaka’s” turn. Oh, you’ve been summoned!
The restaurant’s interior has the atmosphere of a diner in a market.
It seems to have many fans as there are regulars that I often see when I visit the restaurant.
Secrets of Popularity
By the way, “kotaka” lived in Hokkaido for six years when he was a child, and has eaten a lot of fresh, sparkling seafood that can be found at Hokkaido product fairs held in department stores all over Japan. I am proud to say that I have a reasonably discerning palate, but even I, “kokata,” think that the “Sakanameshi” is fresh and really tasty.
The secret is that the fish is directly delivered from the Choshi Fishing Port, as recommended by the wholesaler, “caught early in the morning that day!
Location of Choshi Fishing Port and Nagareyama, the place of production
In case you are wondering, Nagareyama and Choshi are located at the most west and east of Chiba Prefecture.

Nagareyama City is located on the inland side of Chiba Prefecture, so it takes two to three hours by car to get to Choshi Fishing Port. Therefore, there are not many such restaurants specializing in seafood in the Nagareyama area, making Sakanameshi a very rare find.
Concept of the store
It is a simple and nice message that expresses the strong feelings of the store.
Set meal of simmered sea bream
First of all, I would like to introduce you to the “Kinmedai no Nigiri Teishoku” (set meal of simmered sea bream)! This is the set meal that brought “Kotaka” to Sakanameshi.
I was watching the second episode of the popular gourmet TV drama “Solo no Gourmet” Season 9 when I came across “simmered sea bream. It was the episode in which the main character, Mr. Goro, visited Ninomiya Town in Kanagawa Prefecture for a business meeting and entered a fish restaurant by the sea after work. He was really enjoying the simmered sea bream that was served there.
After seeing this, “Kotaka” couldn’t stand still any longer and searched the web for a restaurant near his house where he could eat simmered kinmoku, but found only a few set meal restaurants near fishing ports such as Choshi and Katsuura, which are far from Nagareyama. I couldn’t give up and looked for several months every time I remembered it, but I just couldn’t find it.
I had already given up on the boiled fish and just had a regular sashimi set meal, so I was exploring the area with GoogleMAP to see if there were any good seafood set meal restaurants nearby, and I found “Sakanameshi”! I found the words “Sakanameshi”. A perfect name! I looked at the menu on Gurunavi, and wow! It’s there! The “simmered sea bream” that I had been chasing for months! And in Nagareyama Otakanomori, right near my house! I’m so glad I live in Nagareyama!
Huh! I noticed that we are already in front of the store. Let’s go in!
Welcome!” The owner has a very nice, bright and cheerful voice.
I said, “Excuse me. Of course, I ordered without hesitation.
Order the braised sea bream!
I can’t wait. I’m excited. I order the simmered sea bream!
Thank you for your patience.
Food report of “Kotaka
Here it is at last! It’s a goldfish. How beautiful it looks!
Well, I’ll have some of that. Yummmm. This is delicious!
The plump meat and the sweet, rich soy sauce-based sauce are a perfect match. Let’s pour the simmered fish and its broth over rice, just like Goro did in “Gourmet of Solitude. Oops, this is not a good idea, you won’t be able to stop yourself from eating more rice! In addition to the main dish of kinmei, another main dish of fresh sashimi and three small bowls of cooked food were also included, so I was very satisfied with the dish. No, it was already great. Thank you for the meal!
By the way, in researching stores that serve simmered sea bream, I noticed that there are stores that serve sashimi and grilled fish in the surrounding towns, but there are no stores that serve simmered fish, not limited to sea bream. Even if there are, they are high-class restaurants such as ryotei (traditional Japanese-style restaurants). It takes a lot of time and effort, and it is probably because it is difficult to handle.
I hope you will all try to taste the simmered kinmei, which is very hard to find in this neighborhood. By the way, it was a splendid lighthouse life, wasn’t it?
fried horse mackerel
Fried horse mackerel to be ordered next time! I have been going to “Sakanameshi” for more than two years now, but in fact, there are still many dishes I have never ordered. It’s so good that I tend to order the same dishes as before. In case you are wondering, that’s the hokke set meal.
The reason why I am announcing fried horse mackerel as my next order is because the other day, the owner of the elderly couple standing in line behind “Kotaka” said, “They are out of fried horse mackerel today. I see~, that’s too bad~…” (pause of about 5 seconds) No~. (5-second pause) Oh no, that’s too bad. (pause of about 5 seconds) I couldn’t help but laugh as they said with deep regret, “They’re so good, no wonder they’re so popular.
Hearing this, “Kotaka” also said, “What, that much? That much!” and he is very curious. I am looking forward to the next time! But I guess I’d better get there a little early because it will be sold out. I will add another report later!
Fried tiger prawns & rare fried horse mackerel & assorted sashimi set meal directly from Choshi
Yes, I am! Sorry for the wait. Here is an additional report. This is the “Today’s Recommended Special” set meal that comes with fried horse mackerels, which I was curious about. It also comes with prawns, which “Kotaka” loves, so it is a set meal that will make you happy to the max.
Soy sauce, ponzu, sauce, and tartar sauce are provided at the table for a variety of tastes.
Let’s have it then, shall we?
Since “Kotaka” has recently joined the ranks of the tartarists, it’s nice to be able to put on as much and as generously as I like!
The batter is crispy, thick and juicy! Your mouth will be filled with the savory and fresh horse mackerel flavor. This is delicious! I’m still in the middle of eating it, but I’ve decided to order it next time. When I found out that they were sold out, I could understand the owner’s disappointment as he said, “Oh no, it’s a shame. I could understand how the owner of Kotaka felt when he found out they were sold out.
Yes, that’s all for now. I will order more different menus to introduce you all to different menus.
If you want to taste fresh fish in Nagareyama, “Sakanameshi” is recommended by “Kotaka”, a fan of “Sakanameshi”! This was the information sharing by “Kotaka”, the concierge of Nagareyama.
