Nagareyama Fireworks Festival was held!
Good evening. I am “Kotaka” living in Nagareyama Otakanomori. How are you all doing?
I’ll share the information with you now that “Kotaka” is now at the Nagareyama Fireworks Festival.
This fireworks display has a long history dating back to 1908. The highlight of the festival is that the “Nagareyama Fireworks Festival” and the “Sango Fireworks Festival” are held at the same time, and the fireworks are launched from both banks of the Edo River at the same time!
The total number of fireworks shot off by both cities is 14,000, and 170,000 people attend the spectacular fireworks display on the day of the event. This year is the first time in four years that the event has been held, and it is very crowded. Boom! It started before we arrived at the bank.
Usually the festival is held around late August, but this year it was decided to hold it at this time as a celebration of the “150th anniversary of the birth of Chiba Prefecture” and just before the completion of the Sango Nagareyama Bridge, which is scheduled to open at 15:00 on November 26 (Sunday).
Still, it’s hard to move forward, isn’t it? Oh, I can smell the delicious smell coming from the food stall.

Now, let me explain a little about the historical background of why the fireworks shows in both cities are held at the same time.
In the past, the Edogawa River repeatedly flooded and burst its banks, submerging Nagareyama City and Misato City each time, and many people died.
Because of this, the two cities have long built a relationship of mutual support, and in 1977, they became friendship cities. This led to the holding of a fireworks display at the same time as an event to symbolize the friendship between the two cities.
The event is held to celebrate the completion of the new bridge connecting Nagareyama City and Misato City, and is launched grandly into the night sky of both cities.
