Take the express bus between Nagareyama Otakanomori Station and Haneda Airport!
Overview of Express Buses to Haneda Airport
Hello. My name is “Kotaka” and I live in Otakanomori.
Did you all know that there is an express bus that connects Otakanomori Station and Haneda Airport?
I recently had the opportunity to use Haneda Airport and took this express bus, and I would like to share my experience with you.
Ride Fees vs. Rail
The fare is 1,600 yen (one-way) for adults and 800 yen (one-way) for children, and the trip takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. (As of August 2023) The advantage of using this service is that there are no transfers to the airport and there is no need to carry heavy luggage.
On the other hand, the route to Haneda Airport by train and monorail costs about 1,300 yen (one way), which is 300 yen cheaper. The time required is 1 hour and 20 minutes, the same as the express bus, but the disadvantage is that there are two transfers.
Schedule from Nagareyama Otakanomori Station
This bus departs five times a day from bus stop No. 6 at the Nagareyama Otakanomori West Exit rotary. The bus company operating the service is jointly operated by Tobu Bus Central and Keihin Kyuko Bus. The five departures from Nagareyama Otakanomori Station are at 5:20, 7:10, 9:20, 12:15, and 15:15. (As of August 2023)
If there is no bus at the time you want to board, please check if there are more buses departing from the neighboring Kashiwanoha Campus Station. In that case, you only need to take the Tsukuba Express to the next station for 3 minutes. It is possible that the times may have changed due to revisions, so be sure to check the official page link below for the latest information.
Actual experience from Nagareyama Otakanomori Station to Haneda Airport (bound for Haneda Airport)
Now, let me tell you about my actual experience using the bus. This time, I used the Tobu Central Bus service departing from Otakanomori Station at 12:17 pm.
I arrived at the No. 6 bus stop 10 minutes before departure time.
I see that many passengers are already waiting. It is crowded with families with small children, coinciding with the summer vacation period. By my count, there were 25 people waiting in line. I was beginning to wonder if the “Kotaka” would be able to board.
After a five-minute wait, the bus arrived.
Number of passengers and bus capacity from Otakanomori Station
From Otakanomori, there will be 29 passengers including “Kotaka”. With 42 seats and 8 auxiliary seats, the bus has a capacity of 50 passengers. At the time of departure from Otakanomori, the bus was almost full with 41 passengers. Well, there is no need to be in a hurry, though, because even if you can’t get on and decide to take the train, you can still make it in time.
How to get on the train
No advance reservations are made to go to the airport, including Nagareyama Otakanomori Station, and you pay the fare directly to the bus driver.
Drop-off terminals by airline
Terminal 1
Haneda Airport Terminal 1 is the drop-off point for Japan Airlines (JAL), Japan Transocean (JTA), Skymark (SKY), and Star Flyer (SFJ) passengers.
Terminal 2
Terminal 2 is for All Nippon Airways (ANA), Airdu (ADO), and Solaseed Air (SNA).
Terminal 3

Departure from Otakanomori Station
Due to the large number of passengers from Otakanomori, we departed at 12:20 p.m., three minutes later than scheduled. We smoothly got on the expressway from the Nagareyama Interchange a little more than 10 minutes after departure.
Intermittent natural traffic congestion!
Traffic became congested after crossing the Misato Junction, and the car repeatedly slowed to a crawl and then stopped. The estimated time of arrival is 13:27. Will we make it in time?
The route to the airport was from Kosuge Junction to join the Chuo Loop Route, and at around 13:05, the route joined the Wangan Route at Kasai Junction to head for Haneda Airport.
The same is true for trains, but it is better to plan your activities in anticipation of traffic delays, arrive a little early, and have enough time to have a leisurely meal at the airport. So “Kotaka” is in no hurry at all.
The order of terminal arrival is Terminal 2, Terminal 1, and then Terminal 3. We arrived at Terminal 1 at 13:25, almost on time. This time, we had to slow down and stop several times due to natural traffic congestion on the way to the terminal, but I guess they have it in their schedule in advance.
It arrived safely!
