Soba Kaiseki Azumino in Nagareyama

Hello. My name is “Kotaka” and I live in Otakanomori. I have been to Azumino, a wonderful soba kaiseki restaurant, and I will share my experience with you.I go to “Kotaka” about two or three times a year, and this was the first time in several years that I had been there during lunch hours.The restaurant is about a 15-minute walk from Toyoshiki Station, next to Otakanomori Station, which is a good distance for a stroll.Walking along a residential street, you will suddenly see a magnificent wooded area and the sign “Azumino” in front of you.
Arrival! I am always excited when I step into this wooded area.
It is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food, a building that looks like an old private house, and is surrounded by deep green forest. It makes you feel as if you are visiting a summer resort such as Azumino or Karuizawa.
“Ho~k, hokey-kokey”!
I was surprised. Today, a Japanese bush warbler is singing nearby. I didnot know there were bush warblers in Nagareyama. I am happy to be able to visit a buckwheat noodle restaurant in Shinshu, even though it is so close by.
Just walking along this path is therapeutic.
We enjoyed an extraordinary happy time with delicious food.
Kaiseki course Azumi-no-zen
Now, let me stop with the preamble and explain about the important dishes. This time, I chose the kaiseki course. Among them, I had the Azumino set, which is the most reasonable lunch-only course.
Endo-dofu (bean curd) as an appetizer

Rice cooked with bamboo shoots
This is a springtime dish with a rich and flavorful bamboo shoots. The sticky texture and aroma of bamboo shoots will fill your mouth with flavor.

Tempura (add large shrimp)
Although not part of the course, I ordered an additional order of large shrimp tempura.This is a favorite at Kotaka and one of the delights I always order when I visit Azumino.The shrimp are Black Tiger, and they are an extra large size that is not available at retail stores.
As one would expect from a shrimp that calls itself a giant prawn, it is a large, plump, mouth-watering prawn.The head is also eaten crispy, and it tastes like rich shrimp.If you like prawns, try it. Recommended! Tempura Soba course with large shrimp tempura ¥2800 is also available (as of April 2023).

The soba noodles are made from Nibachi soba and the buckwheat flour is from Azumino.

Thank you for the food! It was very delicious! Well, now that we are full, it’s time to go home.
After passing through the woods with a sense of satisfaction from the delicious food, you will find yourself in a residential area.
I have come back to the real world. But this gap even makes me feel satisfied, as if I were returning from a trip. Satisfaction, satisfaction.
